The Franciscan Friends of the Poor was organized and incorporated on December 18, 1998, under the nonprofit incorporation laws of the State of Colorado. All gifts, donations and grants to us are tax deductible to the donating person, firm or other legal entity, in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. For those who pay Colorado Income Taxes, gifts to Father Woody's also qualify for the Enterprise Zone tax credit of up to 25% of the gift.
Purpose
The Franciscan Friends of the Poor's ministry is to provide food, shelter, clothing, counseling, rehabilitation and hygienic services to the homeless and indigent. Since their inception, they have provided showers, haircuts and laundry services for their homeless guests.
Current Project - Now open
Our new home honoring Monsignor Charles B. Woodrich, better known as Fr. Woody, who championed the plight of the homeless opened Wednesday October 17th 2007. The new facility is named "Father Woody's Haven of Hope".
The new building has 6 private showers and bathrooms, a large dining room to serve warm meals to the up to 250 homeless who pass through our doors each day. Haircuts and laundry service are also provided.
Father Woody's is open from 8 AM to 1 PM weekdays.
